Travel way back in time with '10,000 B.C.' on DVD

After his characters in "Independence Day" and "The Day After Tomorrow" battled futuristic aliens, tidal waves and frozen temperatures, director Roland Emmerich looks back in time - way back - for the fantasy "10,000 B.C." Here, a young hunter (Steven Strait) 12,000 years ago must fight evil warlords and prehistoric predators to save his kidnapped love (Camilla Belle) and the future of humankind. The DVD includes an extended ending and 10 minutes of deleted scenes. (Warner Home Video, $28.98, rated PG-13.)

Fun things happen when Jack Black gets magnetized on DVD

From the clever mind of writer-director Michel Gondry comes "Be Kind Rewind," a comedy, starring Mos Def as a video store employee whose friend (Jack Black) gets hit by an electromagnetic field and somehow erases all the videos in the store. (The old-fashioned store owner, played by Danny Glover, doesn't believe in DVDs.) So the two decide to remake, with their own video camera and limited resources, all the movies they erased, such as "Ghostbusters" and "Driving Miss Daisy." The DVD includes both the widescreen and full-screen versions of the film plus "Passaic Mosaic," a tribute to Passaic, N.J., where the movie was set. (New Line Home Entertainment, $27.95, rated PG-13.)
