At the end of May, things appeared to be working according to plan for Macon's Beau Slocumb. The local stock car driver had just finished 14th in the USAR Hooters Pro Cup race at the Milwaukee Mile in his first race at a track at least a mile long.

Nicholas Butler's brand-new bat paid off for Vine-Ingle. The first pitch it ever connected with landed near the ballpark tool shed beyond the center-field fence at George Jones Field.
